From June 22-25, 2021, the "7th Online Conference on Electron Microscopy (iCEM 2021)," hosted by Instrument Information Network (www.instrument.com.cn) and co-organized by the Chinese Society for Electron Microscopy (www.china-em.cn), successfully concluded. The conference invited 50 renowned academic experts in the field of electron microscopy and technical experts from leading electron microscope manufacturers to deliver a series of online academic and technical presentations to a wide audience of electron microscopy enthusiasts. The four-day online forum attracted over 2,800 participants, with more than 400 interactive Q&A sessions.

The Online Conference on Electron Microscopy (iCEM) was first launched by Instrument Information Network in 2015, aiming to promote the development of instrument technology and cutting-edge scientific research in the field of electron microscopy in China. It utilizes internet technology to provide a free learning platform for researchers and professionals in the field of electron microscopy, overcoming geographical and time constraints, allowing participants to listen to insightful presentations from electron microscopy experts without leaving their homes, saving both time and money.

iCEM 2021 focused on current research and application hotspots in electron microscopy, with six thematic sessions: Advances in Electron Microscopy Technology and Applications, In-situ Electron Microscopy Technology and Applications, Electron Microscopy Experimental Operation Techniques and Experience Sharing, Advanced Electron Microscopy Technology and Applications, Applications of Electron Microscopy Technology in Materials Science, and Applications of Electron Microscopy Technology in Life Sciences.

Among these, the session on electron microscopy experimental operation techniques and experience sharing included commonly used sample preparation techniques for electron microscopy, applicable to particle size analysis in cleanliness testing. It provides the most direct reference data and images for identifying metal and non-metal particles. It also allows for accurate classification of fibers and non-fibers based on different aspect ratio settings. Bonded particles can be confirmed in the actual field of view and segmented using digital segmentation methods to ensure the accuracy of the judgment. One-click scanning and report generation enable high-efficiency analysis.
